    My First Official Crochet Pattern

Sunday, February 4, 2007, 03:59 AM EST [Crafts]

I haven't been able to sleep, so I decided to work on my patterns.  I finished one... :D  YAY!!  I was so happy with myself!!

The picture doesn't do justice, my scanner didn't quite hold it right.

The idea for this design was to be recognizable by those of our faith who will know what it represents, yet unrecognized by those who would condemn it.  Thus allowing someone still "in the closet" to sucessfully display a beautiful pillow or afghan or doily, etc, that is a sigil of his/her faith.

Please feel free to use this design for personal uses or gifts.  It is an original design by me.  If you publish the pattern for free use on your own website, please remember to mention me as the designer.  If you have any questions or problems with this pattern please let me know!! :)

    Snowin & Blowin

Sunday, February 4, 2007, 12:09 AM EST [General]

Well... we were suppose to head south yesterday but the weather decided otherwise.  My hubby & I were watching the news in the afternoon and Chillicothe was on the news.  There was about 2 inches of snow put down in a small amount of time atop ice.  Probably doesn't sound bad to most people, but if you know the area it's not good.

Anyway, we were going to go to Athens county but they were at a level one snow emergency and school was being dismissed 2 hours early.  We called my grandparents to see how bad it was, they said the roads were "crappy" (not the word used) but the snow seemed to be easing up.  We called a couple hours later and the emergency had been raised to a level 2.  We decided not to go, so we stayed home... which isn't much warmer!!  We got the frigid air, they got the snow.  Oh well.

I decided to warm myself up by crocheting a springy bunny eared hat for newborns.  I have a yellow one finished and am working on a pink one.

     Here's to warmer thoughts!!

I think it turned out well.  I've also been working on barefoot sandals, hair scrunchies, an afghan, bookmarks, wooden items, soaps, lotions, candles and some other little odds n' ends most of which are Pagan oriented.  Gotta get ready for the craft show coming up in March!!

    Dial up... who loves it?

Thursday, February 1, 2007, 10:36 PM EST [General]

What I wouldn't give for DSL or something faster...  Downloading... It took the better part of 15 hours but I did it sorta.

I have been trying to find freeware to create my own clipart and animations. I found one that would have been awesome, but my internet company apparently doesn't like one to remain online over 10 hours solid... hehehe... well... I got 1/2 the program downloaded and thought I could restart the download from where it cut off...

    nope.

I had to redownload the same stuff I had before except this time I only got 3 of the 12 hours... talk about a pain huh?

I gave up on the awesome program that would have been Wonderful and decided to try another... It doesn't have much in the line of tools, but it's better than MS Paint and I can make animations with it. If you take a peek in the photos section you'll see my very first animation using this program.

My husband & I are looking into one of those doodle pad things with the stylus pen so I can draw freehand instead of manipulating the preformed shapes, which doesn't allow much in the detail end of things. (I'm horrible at drawing a line with a rollerball mouse!!)

Other than that I'm headed south Friday evening... going to visit family and get directions to a doctors office in Cincinatti.

Everyone take care & Blessings till later!!
    Laurel :)

    A lil 'bout me

Wednesday, January 31, 2007, 01:22 PM EST [General]

My name is Laurel, currently I am located somewhere 'round North Central Ohio.  I'm from Southeastern Ohio, born in Logan raised in Athens County.  Up until August '05 lived in a lil rinky dink town.

I have been following my path for the better part of 10 years, and am quite content with it though it is changing and evolving.

I am married pushing 12 years, and have two lovely children from that marriage.  My husband asked me just recently to remarry him!! :D  I'm excited about that.
